the only nine to fiver in the room

I am often the only nine to fiver in the room. (In truth, I am more of an eight to eighter, but that's material for a different post.)

I am surrounded by smart, creative, witty, educated people who work hard and lead interesting and complex lives. These are people who write plays and write grants; build sets and build community; manage time and manage people; raise children and raise funds. But they do it on their own terms. I envy that.
